Volunteer with Family Ministry
We are so grateful for each and every volunteer for making Family Ministry possible each week!
If you love kids and young people and want to serve as a volunteer, we truly appreciate your interest.
The first step is filling out the volunteer application at the bottom of this page. We’ll be in touch about running a background check and providing training. For more information, please see the detailed information below. Questions? Email Pastor Lisa at lisa@communitychurchsr.org. Thank you!
About Volunteering
with the Family Ministry Team
What are the requirements for becoming a volunteer?
Prospective volunteers can fill out an application (at the bottom of this page) and are background checked. We also ask that volunteers receive training in specific volunteer protocols. Starting in 2025, we’ll be requiring our volunteers to receive periodic training in child sexual abuse prevention and CPR.
What are the various volunteer roles and what do they involve?
No matter what your talents and interests, there is a spot for you! When you fill out the volunteer application, please check off any of these roles that would be of interest to you!
Teacher, Community Church Kids or Youth
Teach simple Bible lessons that are “plug and play”. All the fun games, activity instructions, and supplies are provided. You simply read and follow the script.
60 minutes, 1x per month, during the worship service.
You choose which age group(s) you prefer to work with.
Helper, Community Church Kids or Youth
Offer support to whoever is teaching the lesson. Help kids with the activities, etc.
60 minutes, 1x per month, during the worship service.
Nursery
Provide childcare for ages birth through age 3.
Often no babies or toddlers are there, so you are welcome to go back into the worship service after the first ten minutes. You would be “on call” if a family arrives with a baby or toddler they’d like to have in the nursery.
The nursery is equipped with a changing table, diapers, and toys.
10-60 minutes, 1x per month during the worship service.
Registration
Help families sign in to receive security tags as they enter
Leave the service 5 minutes early in order to help check families out of the system as they exit
Buddy
1-on-1 buddy for a child with learning challenges
One hour, once per month during worship service
Learn from the child’s parent about their specific needs, and then accompany them during the worship service. Family Ministry has sensory toys and ample space to walk around together with the child.
