Serving the Greater Kinnelon Area

The Community Church is a casual, contemporary Christian church serving individuals and families in the Greater Kinnelon Area. Our Sunday services are 60 minutes or less, we dress casually, and most people grab a free cup of coffee in our cafe on their way into the service.

Your children are welcome to sit with you in the service or be part of our awesome Kids Ministry programming. Click here to read more about it!

Our church is located just inside the North Gate of the Smoke Rise community right off Route 23, but many people who attend our church live in West Milford, Butler, Oak Ridge, Boonton, Bloomingdale, etc.

Pastoral Staff

Pastor Mike Leahy

Born and raised in Scotch Plains, NJ, Mike, his wife Tara, and their three college-age daughters are big fans of the Garden State. Graduating from The King's College (NY), Mike joins The Community Church with 20 plus years of serving and leading in the ministry and nonprofit world.

From 2006 to 2020, Mike was a member of the  executive leadership team that founded Liquid Church. During his tenure, Liquid Church grew from 300 weekly attendees to over 5,000 and from 1 location to 7 in northern and central New Jersey.

One of Mike’s favorite quotes is from the late Howard Hendricks when he said, "The Bible was not written to satisfy your curiosity; it was written to transform your life... you see, we frequently come to the Bible to study it, to teach it, to preach it, to outline it -- everything except to be changed by it.”

Mike is excited to lead the new Community Church pastoral team. He believes that God will use the team tremendously to love and serve the people of the Community Church and the Greater Kinnelon area.

Pastor Mitch Green

A native of South Carolina, Mitch Green and his family moved to New Jersey when Mitch was ten and have remained residents of the Garden State ever since.

The oldest of ten children, educated in the Trenton public school system, and a former member of the United States Marines, Mitch’s life took a troubled route in his search for meaning and purpose. His search, dark and perilous at times, came to an end when Mitch opened his heart to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior. Today, with his wife Cordelia by his side, Mitch preaches the power of God to heal, transform and restore.

Currently, Mitch studies for his Bachelor of Science in Religion: Biblical & Theological Studies at Liberty University. His heartfelt desire is to be a better equipped minister of the Gospel. He has also published his life’s journey in his book, “The Gods of Addiction: A Testimony.” Mitch’s transformed life is clearly reflected in his favorite Bible verse, 2nd Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Pastor Lisa Nopachai

Lisa grew up in Kinnelon, NJ, and recently moved back after over a decade of living in and around Pasadena, CA. She loved the sunshine and beaches, but really missed north Jersey’s beautiful nature and good Italian food!

With a BA in psychology from Amherst College, and a master’s degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, Lisa has over 15 years of ministry and non-profit experience. She has served as a hospital and hospice chaplain, and in leadership in multiple multiethnic, intergenerational church congregations. She's also worked in the field of child advocacy and as a researcher at the Fuller Youth Institute, which focuses on Christian youth ministry. Throughout her life, she's always loved being around kids and always found ways to be working with them: as a Sunday school teacher, camp counselor, mentor, or tutor.

Lisa and her husband have been married since 2011 and have two girls who love singing, dancing, and playing together. Lisa loves hiking, rock climbing, yoga, and dance. She’s currently in training to become a spiritual director and loves creating spaces for people to rest in God’s presence and pray together.

Lisa’s favorite scripture passage is Ephesians 3:16-19, about the vastness of God's love.

Family Ministry

Amanda spent the summer of 2021 as a Family Ministry intern at The Community Church. She discovered a passion for building a faith community among families in the greater Kinnelon area. In the fall of 2021, she became the Family Ministry Coordinator. Amanda is excited to further her work at The Community Church by investing her time and energy into developing the faith of future generations. She is pleased to lead a team of dedicated Family Ministry volunteers.

Beliefs

We are a Christian community for all people. We meet people where they are on their faith journey encouraging them to develop a closer relationship with God and to know the love of Jesus Christ. We are all about joyful worship, uplifting music, powerful prayer, family ministry, and compassionate service for others.

WE BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE, which is the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is relevant today and contains all the answers to the questions and problems we have in life.

WE BELIEVE IN GOD, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE IN JESUS, who is fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died on the cross as our substitute to make full and complete payment for our sins. We believe in the physical resurrection of His crucified body and that he ascended back to heaven. We anticipate His return in power and glory.

WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT whose indwelling enables us to live a godly life.

WE BELIEVE THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE SEPARATED FROM GOD AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SIN, but that salvation and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we repent of sin and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and Lord, we are born anew, forgiven of all sin. We become children of God, destined to spend eternity with Him.

WE BELIEVE THE BEST IS YET TO COME, which is the resurrection of those who believe in Jesus. God will set up His Kingdom which will never end.

Infant Baptism

Here at The Community Church, we offer families the opportunity to have their infant baptized to provide them the opportunity to publicly declare, in front of their family, friends, and spiritual community, that they are committing to do their best to raise their child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

TAKING THE NEXT STEP…

We would love to talk to you more. Click below to let us know you are interested in chatting more about baptism or feel free to send us an email.
