Brad, who was ordained to the Christian Ministry in April 1982, was called to be the Senior Pastor of CCSR in June 2009. He grew up as a “preacher’s kid” in Pennsylvania. Brad’s father and mentor, Donald Smith, is a pastor for over 50 years now.
Along with his experience in ministry, Brad has been a pilot for U.S. Air Express and a Financial Services Associate with Prudential. He and his wife Patti have 5 children: Brian, Andrew (wife Kelly), Caitlin (husband Jay), Lauren (husband John), and Joe (wife Stephanie); 4 grandsons, Jaden, Blake, Dylan, & Joseph, (and 5 granddaughters, Brooke, Elaina, Olivia, Sophia, & Kylie; and their Golden Doodle Montaya & Coconut Retriever Marigot. When he’s not fulfilling his pastoral responsibilities, you’ll see him running, at the beach with Patti, walking our dogs or playing golf.
Patti has been in Dental Office Management for over 25 years and continues that work here in Smoke Rise. As Brad will tell you, Patti is an integral and indispensable part of his ministry. Together, Brad and Patti view themselves a ‘pastoral couple’ who enjoy hosting Bible Studies and their Annual Church Open House each December, as well as entertaining in their home.
Brad has a deep love for Jesus and His Word, the Bible, and brings a wonderful, practical insight into God's Word with a great ability to communicate to the listener. Sharing the philosophy of ministry and “Distinctives” of Calvary Chapel, founded by Chuck Smith, Brad is passionately focused on “Simply teaching the Bible simply” in Christ’s love.

I am currently in my senior year at Nyack College, soon to graduate in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth and Family Studies, with a concentration in Advanced Youth Ministry and a minor in Bible. I was born in Ecuador and grew up moving around a lot in New York and New Jersey. I currently reside in North Bergen, NJ and dorm in Nyack, NY. I have been involved in youth ministry leadership for the past five years while also being a counselor for Christian summer camps that minister to at-risk youth. My life revolves around Jesus Christ and the Great Commission that He set forth. It is my passion to walk alongside youth as they realize their identity in Christ Jesus and as I teach them how to study, understand, and apply Scripture to their lives. My mission is to help youth connect to the One True Living God and help discover the magnificent impact that God makes in every area of our lives.
Director of Children's Ministry
My name is Jailyne Aguilar and I am the Children’s Director! I have lived in New Jersey the past ten years and I think we live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, even with all the snow in the winter. I am currently majoring in early childhood and childhood at Nyack College and hope to graduate with my masters in special education. It is my privilege to serve the Lord as the leader over the Children’s Ministry. We have a great group of kids, teachers, and helpers who are committed to sharing God’s love with them. Working with each one of these people brings me so much joy and reminds me of God’s love. Our desire as a team is that each child will come to know the amazing love of God in his/her life. We want to partner with parents to help these kids become solid in their relationship with Jesus. If you ever have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Anna Louise Murphy
Director of Music Ministry
As a member of our Church for 20 years I cannot express how grateful I am to be selected to serve our Community. Our Church has been an integral part of my family’s life over the years, and the opportunity to reciprocate the love I have received from the Church is truly a blessing. I feel immense gratitude towards our Church family, and look forward to continuing to serve Christ and our community through music ministry and worship. I am honored to be following in the footsteps of such wonderful Choir Directors and look forward to living up to the leadership of Carol Cornwell who has led the Choir for the last two years. I look forward to serving the Choir and Community by sharing my passion for music ministry with you all.
I have been working in music ministry since 2002 when I was hired as an accompanist at Wayne Presbyterian Church while studying music at William Paterson University. Upon graduating with a B.M in Music Education in January 2006, I began my full-time career teaching Vocal Music in Hawthorne, NJ for K-5 students. Over the course of the next 10 years, my role in music education and ministry has seen changes every few years. I served as the Music Director for many years but eventually resigned when my husband Chuck and I welcomed our two sons, Charlie and Liam who are now ages 5 and 3. I still continued to play and sing on the worship team, served as a Deacon, and eventually my family decided to explore a new church home. We have been worshiping at Jacksonville Chapel in our home town of Lincoln Park for the past year where I volunteer as a keyboardist on my Sundays away from Smoke Rise. In the meantime, I still teach in Hawthorne but have switched to Instrumental Music for 4th and 5th graders for the past 5 years. I am very grateful to have been called to the Community Church of Smoke Rise as an Accompanist as of November 2015 and I look forward to serving God with the music ministry team!
